DAY 01: Arrival at IXB/Bagdogra Airport, transfer to Phuentsholing:

Our journey into the mystical realm of Bhutan commences as we touch down at IXB/Bagdogra Airport, where anticipation and excitement fill the air. From the airport, we embark on a scenic drive to the town of Phuentsholing, the gateway to the Land of the Thunder Dragon.

While the day is dedicated to travel, the journey itself promises glimpses of the lush landscapes that frame our path, setting the stage for the Bhutanese adventure that awaits. Upon reaching Phuentsholing, we'll check in to our accommodations in nearby Jaigaon, India, as the immigration process for Bhutan will commence the following day.

Jaigaon, a bustling border town, offers a unique blend of Indian and Bhutanese cultures, making it an ideal place to prepare for our immersion into Bhutan's rich traditions. Here, we can savour Indian cuisine, explore local markets, and engage with the vibrant community.

As the sun sets over this borderland, we reflect on the journey that lies ahead, filled with wonder and the promise of discovery. Tomorrow, we will cross the border into Bhutan, leaving behind the bustling border town for the serene beauty of the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Overnight stay at Jaigaon.

DAY 02: Phuentsholing to Thimphu transfer:

The second day of our Bhutan adventure dawned with excitement as we bid farewell to Phuentsholing, the bustling border town that introduced us to this enchanting kingdom. Our journey today takes us on a mesmerising drive towards Thimphu, the vibrant capital city of Bhutan. As we leave Phuentsholing behind, the scenery undergoes a magical transformation, with lush forests and rolling hills welcoming us into a realm of natural beauty.

The road to Thimphu meanders through the captivating landscapes of Bhutan, offering glimpses of the kingdom's rich biodiversity and pristine environment. Along the way, we may encounter quaint villages where time seems to stand still, providing a window into the traditional way of life in Bhutan. Changangkha Lhakhang - Changangkha Lhakhang is a prominent Buddhist temple located in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, nestled on a ridge overlooking the city. It is not only a place of worship but also a significant cultural and architectural landmark in Bhutan, attracting both pilgrims and tourists with its stunning views and serene ambiance.

The National Memorial Chorten or Thimphu Chorten - Thimphu Chorten, also known as the Memorial Chorten, is a prominent Buddhist stupa located in the heart of Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. DAY 04: Thimphu to Punakha transfer via Dochula Pass:

As your Hot Ngaja (a Sweet Bhutanese milk tea) arrives sip into it while enjoying the beautiful valley from the room. Post breakfast heads towards Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. Punakha is much backward from the chaotic city life at an elevation of 1200 m, which makes this place quite warm in winter and chill during summer. The valley is famous for Red and White Rice farming along the Pho and Mo Chu river's stretch. En-route visit.

Punakha Dzong - Also known as "The Palace of Great Happiness", Punakha Dzong is located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers in the Punakha–Wangdue valley. This Dzong is the most picturesque of all Bhutan ancient fortresses and it joins the mainland by an arched wooden bridge that contains many precious relics from the days when successive kings reigned the Kingdom from this Punakha valley.

Suspension Bridge - This hidden treasure in the Punakha Valley connects the rest of the valley to the old administrative centre of Punakha Dzongkhag. The whole deck is covered with prayer flags and provides a perfect spot for bird watching and photography.

Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple) - Stationed at the top of a hillock, the Chimi Lhakhang is a site dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Known as the 'Divine Madman,' Lama Drukpa Kuenley is said to use songs, humour, and outrageous behaviour to preach his teachings. Chimi Lhakhang temple is believed to be the temple of fertility, and the Bhutanese hold a strong belief that childless couples are blessed by Lama Drukpa Kuenley if they visit the temple and pray for a child. The road to the temple follows a picturesque rural trail through the paddy field that takes visitors to the temple from the road, and after crossing the paddy field, you will find a tiny stream from where Chimi Lhakhang is just a short climb away. Overnight stay at a hotel in Punakha.

DAY 05: Paro to Taktsang Monastery Hiking:

Prepare to embark on a transformative adventure as we dedicate this day to a pilgrimage like no other - the trek to the renowned Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the "Tiger's Nest." Nestled on the edge of a sheer cliff in the Paro Valley, this sacred site beckons us with its mesmerising beauty and spiritual aura. The journey begins with a hike through a lush forest, where every step brings us closer to the footsteps of Guru Rinpoche, the legendary figure who meditated in a cave here for three years. Taktsang Monastery - Taktsang Monastery, also known as the "Tiger's Nest," is one of Bhutan's most iconic and sacred sites, perched precariously on the edge of a sheer cliff in the Paro Valley. Our arrival in Phuentsholing marks the conclusion of our Bhutanese expedition, where we first crossed into this enchanting kingdom. DAY 07: Phuentsholing to Lataguri transfer:

On the seventh day of our journey, we leave behind the enchanting kingdom of Bhutan as we journey from Phuentsholing to Lataguri. This day marks the transition from Bhutan's serene landscapes and rich culture to the lush and diverse wilderness of Lataguri, a gateway to the vibrant wildlife of India's national parks.

As we bid adieu to Bhutan, our adventure takes us on a scenic drive that reveals the changing scenery from the Bhutanese border town to the pristine forests of Lataguri. The road ahead promises encounters with the region's unique flora and fauna, making it an exciting transition from one natural paradise to another.

Lataguri - Lataguri, nestled in the heart of West Bengal, India, is a nature lover's paradise renowned for its proximity to the lush forests of Gorumara National Park. This tranquil town serves as a gateway to the wilderness, offering opportunities for wildlife safaris and birdwatching amidst a backdrop of dense greenery and scenic landscapes.

DAY 08: Lataguri to IXB/Bagdogra Airport drop :

Our Bhutanese and Indian odyssey draws to a close on the seventh day as we bid farewell to the wilderness of Lataguri and embark on a journey to IXB/Bagdogra Airport. The lush greenery and vibrant wildlife of this region, along with the memories of our Bhutanese adventure, accompany us on our homeward journey. As we head to the airport, we carry with us the cherished experiences and newfound appreciation for the beauty of nature and diverse cultures, promising to keep the spirit of adventure alive until our next escapade.After reaching Siliguri proceed towards IXB/Bagdogra Airport.
